Amber Eclipse

It seems I've been severely bitten by the art bug, for this is the first Prismacolor 'painting' to be completed of three in little under a week. I've also been dying to paint with autumn colors, basically because I'm sick of summer and can't wait for fall to arrive.

This piece is relatively simple in concept, but it was a lot of fun. I had originally envisioned the wings being a bit more gossamer, but as I was working on it a close friend said the wings made him think of a butterfly. Then he used the fatal word: "They look *pretty*". Well, I just can't resist anything in my work being told it's pretty, so the wings went from slightly-fae to full out butterfly in a manner of hours. I actually like the effect, and looking back I think the sheerness of the original intent would have been lost against the bold sweeping lines of her skirt.

Medium: Prismacolor pencils and markers (with the occasional Copic thrown in for good measure) on drawing paper.
